COMPANY HISTORY
BUSINESS AND COMPANY
The Davao Dragon Fortune Corporation, with business address at Aurora Extension, Digos City, is a domestic private corporation duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The main business of the corporation is manufacturing of animal feeds for swine and poultry. It was organized by various businessmen in Digos City with Mr. Romualdo C. Crispino as the brain and founder. It was conceived on August 8, 1988, during the "YEAR OF THE DRAGON" of the Chinese calendar. On July 15, 1992, it got its Certificate of Registration with the Bureau of Animal Industry, Animal Feed Standard Division. In September, 1992, the feedmill operation started. The company hires an Animal Nutritionist with Master Degree in Animal Nutrition for the formulation of quality feeds.
In order to maintain the feed production in the feedmill and to solve the marketing problem of the feeds, Mr. Crispino proposed to the members of the board that the corporation shall engage in piggery business. On January 18, 2000, DDFC engaged in hog fattening business. The source of the piglets is Crisbel Farm. By the end of 2002, a total of 5 piggery buildings were constructed. This piggery project served as the show window of the efficacy of the DRAGON feeds and at the same time, a built-in market for our feeds.
In October, 2005, the corporation acquired a land in Camanchiles, Matanao, Davao del Sur with existing poultry facilities. The corporation engaged in poultry-egg production business. By the end of the year 2007, the construction of additional layer building was completed.
In October, 2007, the corporation acquired another piece of land, a land situated in barangay Lanuro, Hagonoy, Davao del Sur. This area shall be an expansion area of the piggery business of the corporation. The piggery operation here will be a modern BREEDER farm complete with Artificial Insemination (AI) laboratory facilities and a huge biogas digester for the wastewater treatment facilities, where the methane gas generated from the digester will be used to run the generator for the nursery buildings.
As of to date, the corporation is now constructing the first phase of the piggery project in Lanuro, Hagonoy, Davao del Sur. It is estimated to be operational before year 2009 will end. The stockholders in the person of Engr. Riorito Ra. Cagas, Mr. Danilo Diokno, Mr. Perseverando Dalumpines, Mr. Bonifacio Crispino and Mr. Federito Torregosa are presently engaged in hog raising and they are using Dragon feeds for their livestock.
The incorporators of the corporation wish that they may continue to be of service to the populace by providing food in the form of meat and egg products and feeds to livestock raisers in the community. The establishment of this agribusiness provides employment opportunities in the locality and improves the livelihood of the people in the vicinity. It also provide sure market of the farmers for their yellow corn produce. It increases the revenue of the municipalities where the farms are situated and the government in general, in the form of taxes, both in the local and national level.

MARKET DEVELOPMENT
1. Conduct of market intelligence/research - We do this anytime especially during fluctuations in the cost of raw materials, for us, to be aware of the competitors’ prices.
2. Distribution channels: We have our display center in the public market. This has increased our sales because we sell in wholesale and retail. In retailing, plenty of backyard piggery raisers have availed of our feeds in smaller quantities and those who have tried our products shared their experiences to their neighbors thereby encouraging them to use our product to be successful also in their piggery business.
Promotional Activities Undertaken
1. We have our radio advertisement at Radyo Ukay in Digos City, daily, prime time
2. Time in the morning, 3 spots, 30 seconder. This radio ad started in 1999 up to the present.
3. We sponsored livestock seminars conducted by the LGU thru the office of the Committee in Agriculture of the Sanguniang Panglunsod ng Digos. In one (1) year, a total of more or less 100 piggery seminars were conducted not only in Digos City but to the different barangays in the city.
Because of the above activities, our sales increases. Those who attended the seminars were informed of the basic components of our feeds and they come to realize that DRAGON FEEDS is the best because it is locally produced and it is newly made or manufactured that is why it is still fresh when they are fed to their animals.

PROGRAMS TO MAINTAIN GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH BUYERS:
1. It is the policy of the company to sell our feeds in CASH BASIS. But, for our loyal customers whom the members of the board vouched for their good credit standing, the company allow them to buy feeds on account based on the duly approved credit application with specified credit term and limit.
2. We listen to the feedbacks of our customers regarding our feeds in cases where they noticed something different in the quality of the feeds they bought recently and we try to check this out with the production department.
3. The company offers our loyal customers to help them in the marketing of their pig products during the time of pig disposal to make them avail of a higher price of live hogs.
4. We offer customized formulation of feeds for our loyal customers that suit the feed requirement based on the strain of their pigs.
PRODUCTION AND TECHNOLOGY
a) Product Development
We keep ourselves aware of the latest developments in the feed industry by subscribing to some magazines like the FEED INTERNATIONAL and FEED BUSINESS. Our animal nutritionist also updates us on the latest trends on feed formulations and the quality and sources of raw materials. The company submits to the demand in the market.
PRODUCT OPERATION:
We have our Quality Control Supervisor who will check the quality of the raw materials that will be purchased especially the yellow corn, rice bran, copra meal, soya bean meal, fish meal, limestone, oyster shell powder and molasses. Only raw materials in good quality shall be accepted.
The yellow corn shall be hammered to the desired particles depending on the feed line to be manufactured. The hammered yellow corn are classified as follows : super fine for hog pre-starter, hog starter and chick booster feeds, very fine for hog grower, hog breeder, hog lactating, chick starter and chick grower feeds, and medium fine particles for hog finisher and layer feeds. The soya bean meal is finely hammered for chicks and piglet diets. The micro-ingredients are pre-mixed in the pre-mixing machine. These micro-ingredients include the vitamin and mineral premix, toxin binders, amino acids, antioxidants, antibiotics and other growth promotants. These macro and micro-ingredients are scaled and mixed in the feed mixing machine. The feed mixing machine has a capacity of 500 kilos per batch. One batch entails 15 minutes of mixing in the mixing chamber. After 15 minutes, the finished feeds are bagged at 50 kilos per sack. The finished feeds are placed in the warehouse ready for delivery to the DDFC piggery and poultry farms, display center and to various customers.
The Davao Dragon Fortune Corporation is the sole feed manufacturer in Davao del Sur. It has various competitors but we have maintained our loyal customers and even attracts new customers because of the FRESHNESS of our feeds and the quality of our raw materials, which is, using the required percentage of yellow corn in the animal diets. We do not use substitutes like cassava, banana meal and alfalfa (ipil-ipil leaves). Aside from the quality feeds, the company offers technical assistance to its loyal customers like giving advices on pig caring and identifying symptoms for pig disease or sickness for early detection of the same.

Ingraining the 5S’s into the culture. The 5S’s involve a culture change. And to achieve a culture change, it has to be ingrained into the organization – by everyone at all levels in the organization.
The company observed good manufacturing practices. The feed mill plant has obtained an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau.
Since the factory is mechanized, the noise is at tolerable level. We have only dust particulate for air pollution in the mill section and we have installed screens all over the warehouse so that the dust are enclosed. The mill personnel are using dust masks during working hours.
HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
The company is giving the wages mandated by the RTWB. It also gives additional remuneration to employees who are serving the company for 5 years but less than 10 years, ten years but less than 15 years and 15 years and above. It also gives 5 days service incentive leave for every year of service for employees who are working in the company for one year and above. We have free uniforms every year and the company has a budget for medicine for emergency purposes and simple ailment.
